Mixed Bag of Ups and Downs

The first few hours of the days activity was limited due to excessive shortness of breath and exhaustion. They planned to take her to radiology for another x-ray but instead they did it in her room. She got that under control about noon and walked one lap with 3 long sit down breaks. The one lap is her record so far (1/18 of a mile) with 20 laps as the target but that won't be anytime soon. The doctor wanted her sitting in the chair after the walk but she insisted upon the bed where she remained. She was to exhausted to be taken down to x-ray so I guess they will try that again tomorrow. Numbers were pretty stable and bronc revealed progress with the rejection and infection issues.

The anxiety issues are greatly inhibiting her progress and since this may be chemically induced I do not think she has that much control over it. Insulin levels have been up and down but remain well above target.

Long tough day. Maybe tomorrow.....................?

Hi, Joy, Wayne and family,
Sounds like today was a rough one, but I'm impressed to hear that Joy broke her walking record! I'm sure that took a lot out of her. but every step she makes will help her to keep progressing. Is she proud of how well she is doing? Simply getting through this tough tough trial is an accomplishment. Is she able to do any relaxation exercises? I know she's under a tremendous amount of stress, and I imagine the stress specialists are doing everything they can to help her by trying lots of different strategies. We're all praying for Joy to keep getting stronger and more comfortable every day. Keep the faith. Love, Laraine

Two steps forward and one back. It's frustrating but consistent. I'm happy for you that Joy has made the big step to the step down unit and it walking and sitting up in a chair for extended periods of time. And thank God she is battling the rejection and other issues. Tell her to keep up the fight! We're all pulling for her.
Blessings, Dee
