Arrived back home after a 7:00 PM discharge and after setting up feed tube, replenishing the pill box, getting new Rx filled, revising my spreadsheets to accommodate the change in medications and times, unloading car and unpacking it is time to call it a night.
Joy not feeling that great but discharge was a viable option since she will receive the same course of treatment as she would receive in hospital. Rehab resumes tomorrow, clinic appointments next week and appointment with the physician to do the Nissen (stomach wrap surgery) a week from Tuesday. They want to move up the surgery as soon as realistically possible to minimize the complications she has been experiencing. She tolerated the endoscopy today and biopsies were sent to lab for analysis. Visual examination showed signs of a fungus type growth and acute inflammation. So, we will wait and see but until those results are known, they are treating her with the same drugs that they will probably use by anticipating the results.
Stay tuned tomorrow......................

Welcome Home!
It's gotta be nice to get out of the hospital setting. Hope Joy's feeling better soon. Make sure you both get plenty of rest... the home routine still sounds like there's an awful lot of work involved.
Love to all,
Steve & Trina
Home AgainII
Joy we are very relieved that you have made enough progress to be discharged. Please keep your chin up there is light at the end of the very long tunnel that Wayne described. It sounds like the stomach wrap will eventually give you more relief. We will pray that it does.
Wayne you will once again start earning all those initials after your name. The spread sheet is a great idea to help keep everything straight.
Our love to both of you and your family.

Dear Joy and Wayne,
It is very hard to sit here and feel helpless as to my ability to do anything to help. I know you are discouraged, and sick and tired, but I am hopeful that the stomach surgery will improve things in a big way. I will be interested to hear more details about what is wrong with Joy's stomach (you probably already told us), but I don't have the medical training that you two have! Not eating or even drinking anything must be the pits. I bet Joy would like something stronger than water anyway. Also what's the deal with stripping the floors near a patient who has pneumonia! At least, you are home and away from that, I can't even imagine.
Things are starting to heat up as I get nearer to school starting and inservice the last week of August. I'm trying to convince Jan that we should go to the lake for a few days to have one last relaxing getaway, but it's doubtful I'll succeed. Sammy is sitting on my lap as I write to you; he doesn't like to be by himself so going back to work is going to be hard. Did I tell you that I might try to convince the administration that he does pet therapy? I taught him to kiss, come, hide, heal and sit so far, but he's still having occasional accidents so it won't work until he's 100% trained. He doesn't shed so the custodians should like him more than the rabbit that is hopping around in a 6th grade classroom.
Please know that you are both in my constant thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Laraine
