Not much change since previous blog. Joy has not been able to leave the house, still has nausea / vomiting every day and considerable pain although it has improved slightly.
Nissen or transplant anyone?

Hi Gang,
Hope by now Joy is feeling less pain. Are the current issues a result of the pre-surgical problems, the surgery itself or just on-going recovery? Whatever it is, we've got our fingers crossed for ya. It can only get better. Glad to see you're getting your game faces on. Won't be much longer until the start of football season. What are we betting this year? Go Lions!
Love to all,
Steve & Trina
Dear Joy
We are sorry to hear that you were having a rough time as we read the Sunday Blog.
We pray that by now, Wed 7/23, you are feeling somewhat better. Time heals but does it have to do it so slowly.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all the time.
Love
Kitty and Bill
Hi,Joy! So sorry to hear of the physical problems you are still wrestling with. It seems that you have been through so much pain that you deserve some relief. Simce I,too, have suffered through a compression fracture and am now completely recovered, I just wanted to make sure that you have explored the surgical procedure that helped me to make a full recovery. That is the procedure called kyphoplasty which was developed only recently and specifically for this kind of injury. Under the direction of an orthopedic surgeon, a radiologist inserts a baloon into the damaged vertebrae, inflates it, and then shoots bone cement into it in order to restore it to its original size. It made all the difference in the world for my pain. I am now fully recovered with no pain because of this procedure. I, of course, don't know if such a procedure would work in your case, but I felt compelled to at least inform you of what my orthopedic surgeon said was "a miraculous recovery" in hopes that you, too, might benefit from such knowledge. I am praying for you every day, Joy. Love in Christ, Bonnie

Dear Joy and Wayne,
We had Mom and Dad over for dinner tonight(Sat.), and they leave Monday for FL so Mom can have her surgery on Aug. 5. They gave us an update that sounds like you are starting to improve, Joy. I hope that you are feeling better every day and that you will be eating better and will soon feel as well as you did when you last visited Duke or even better. They probably told you that Dan is hoping to have finished his bicycle trip down the Oregon Trail (650 miles to go) and will be flying to FL on Aug. 2 so he can help out as Mom recovers. He has water on the knee and is taking antibiotics because he has giardia from drinking bad water. Hopefully, he'll be in good enough shape to be a help instead of the other way around!
Love and kisses,
Laraine
