A New Snag

A new "snag" were the words that Joy heard when her transplant coordinator called last evening. It appears her liver function blood test is elevated. Her doctor has ordered additional blood tests and a CT Scan of her liver which is scheduled for Wednesday, June 27. A drug that Duke prescribed last winter, was an anti-rejection medication that affects the liver. Alcohol could impact the liver but we are guessing this is not the culprit since Joy is not a heavy drinker. Could it be Coca-Cola?

Everyone who is waiting for a transplant has gone through a similar process and we remain positive.

Joy,
I've been praying for you ever since I heard about your upcoming transplant! Hope all goes well with the latest blip - and you are soon on your way to big, deep breaths!
I'm getting ready for sinus surgery (July 5) - roto rooter - Wish ole Dr. Loughry were still alive - he could fix my sinuses up in nothing flat!
I spent the last two nights with Mary Ellen Shoup Wyrick and Sherry's eldest, Deenie, who is in from Phoenix. They came down here to Laurelville (little, tiny, insignificant burg about 5 or 10 miles from Circleville)for an Ohio Quarter Horse Association trail ride.
Deenie drove from Phoenix with her truck, horse van/camper, two horses, one dog and two kids last week! She and Mary Ellen planned this "wild women" weekend for while Deenie was here. I went over Friday night with my dog, Tucker, the beagle who had never been up close, and personal with a horse before! He thought they were MIGHTY BIG DOGS!!! He was QUAKING at first - scared to death! Then when they did not "attack" he started getting closer and finally ended up very brazenly barking at them! It was hilarious!
Mary Ellen and Deenie rode yesterday on the hills and said it was a little scary - for them AND the horses because they are used to riding on FLAT LAND. And they climbed many hills. They said the DOWN was worse than the UP. The horses trying to stop the pull of gravity of their weight PLUS their riders!
Mary Ellen asked me if I would send her greetings if I talked to you and I said, "of course!" So, Hello from Mary Ellen!
I'll talk to you again soon! Have a great day - and stay ready! (I know it is hard not to get discouraged - but remember IGT!! [In God's Time])
Love and hugs,
Jackie Wilson Rose

Hi, Joy! I thought that Dad was going to send me your blog address but he still hasn't gotten on email in the past week. (There's a bunch of things that I've sent him, but he seems to be allergic to email.) So I called Mom and she played Wayne's phone message to me so I could get the address. (She had to play it about 5 times because I couldn't hear it; I think she was playing it into the receiver instead of the speaker.) I doubt that they'll ever figure out the blog thing because Mom couldn't even understand what "http://" meant. As you probably know, none of us are very tecnological, but someone in your family must be to set up this blog! I am anxious to hear your latest news as your blog hasn't been updated for a few days. You and all of the Bullas are in our daily thoughts and prayers. Hugs and kisses, Jan, Laraine, Jessica, Ashley &
David

Laraine got us signed up so wanted to send you a short note. We think of you often and you are always in our thoughts and prayers. We know that given your courage and your faith, that you will win this battle.

Please keep us updated on any news. Laraine wants to get a dog-Yorkshire terrier so if you have any advice on this type of dog-let us know. I have heard it is a great dog but bladder is small so needs to be let out all the time!!!

Again, we are thinking of you. Love, Jan, Laraine, Jessica, Ashley and David
